Report: EGGS.

Where our eggs come from:

Caged 89%

Free ranged 9%

Farm 2%

Caged hens.

In the shed there are two floors.

Temperature at 22 degrees, 6 Hens per cage, lights on for 16 hours a day.

They use electric wire for the hen to stop picking at the egg while it is going past on the belt. They can starve the hen and that will make them lay eggs. Thats called forced molting. The cage is on an angle. So the  hen has to grip on which is gonna be a long time. Food comes out from a conveyor belt and eggs go out through another.

Free range hens.

Free ranged hens get to do lot’s of stuff. In their life they got everything they need. They’re similar to barn hens. They have got a lot of space and they eat from the grass or chicken feed from the chicken house.

Barn hens.

Barn hens can run jump, flap their wings and do stuff. It’s sad for the caged hens they can’t do anything but turn, move a couple of steps, and sit down.

People wanted to do a test to see which egg tasted nicer. They had a test to see if caged eggs and organic eggs were nicer. Most people preferred the taste of organic eggs.

Facts.

New Zealanders eat 920,000,000 eggs per year. White hens lay white eggs and brown hens lay brown eggs. But there is no health difference between the two. NZ has a darker yolked egg than in some countries. Protein is mostly in the yolk. Male chicks get killed because they can’t lay eggs.

Will.I.am

Will.I.Am came to Pt England and gave the Manaiakalani schools a check for $100,000.00. We didn’t know how to reward him back. So we did a show for him.

As I got told to meet at the I.C.T room with the Hip hop group we were getting ready to do an act for a very special person. His name was Will.I.Am. Once I heard I was so excited I wanted to faint. Our group did a few practices. But I just wanted to go out and see Will.I.am.

When I heard screaming and clapping I had butterflies. It was the Maori group performing first. They looked awesome. I was in Kapa Haka last year too. At the back of the Year 7&8’s were lot’s of camera men. Will.I.am brought some guards with him too. There were twenty of them.

Finally it was our turn. I was ready to go on stage. I went passed Will.I.am I said hi but he didn’t hear but it’s all right. We were dancing and the music stopped so we had to restart. I was proud of myself afterwards.

When Will.I.am went up every one was inspired by him. We gave Will.I.Am a green stone. The check he gave us was awarded to all manaiakalani schools. After that the prefects got to see Will.I.am. I was jealous because I really wanted to see him.

Term 1 Reflection

Almost end of term 1. I liked term 1 and I like my class. My teacher is generous and kind. She is the best teacher that I ever had. She loves to teach students. When she was young and fit she use to do karate.

Term 1 has been cool because I've had lots of fun. I wish I could go back in time and restart term 1. I have a friend that likes to play held. His name is Patrick. He encourages me to ignore people that tease me. He’s a good friend.

I like to play with my little sister. She's

in room 3. I got lots of friends for her. She is new to this school. She got a book bag from assembly. My mum watched her get it.

Fia Fia Asembealy.

Miss muliaumasealii was doing another Fia Fia show. This one was about soprano. I knew this one was gonna be interesting. When I grow up I want to be a amazing dancer.

Miss muliaumaseali'i introduced this lady and she loves to sing soprano. She was good at it. She sang a song about a little girl and she’s 16. She wants to get married but her dad say no. It’s a very interesting story.

At the end they did music with instruments. There was a piano, drums, and some guitars. They were doing Bruno Mars That Girl. The drummer is levi. He’s good at drumming. He learnt from a man that was good at it.

2013 Fia Fia Practice

At Fia Fia practice we do Hip Hop. I chose Hip Hop because I love to dance. Our Hip Hop Teacher's name is Narau. We dance to Will.I.Am return of the mac. I was hoping that the song would've been skrillex or dub step. Those are my favourite songs. It’s a very complicated dance too. But I will get through it.

When I'm on stage I make sure that my families are looking at me. I want them to be proud of me. Sometimes i’m shy but I still do it. I do it because at the end they clap and       when i’m there my thoughts are there clapping at me because i’m the best at dancing.

In Practice I do my best because when I grow up I want to be on NZ got talent.

We have a cool dance. I reckon that our dance is gonna be the best. There are some other cultures that are gonna be in the Fia Fia Performance. They're quite good too.

There this girl that's good at puzzling. I love to puzzle but i don’t know much moves. My other friend he’s a boy and I reckon that he’s the best..

Easter Holiday.

In the morning I saw some easter eggs by the fireplace. I took the biggest easter egg and hid it in my room. Then when my parents woke up they went to wake up everybody and went in the lounge were the fireplace was. Everyone got there easter egg and my mum said weres the big one that one was meant to be fro Prince. So I went in my room and grabbed it and it said my name. I started laughing.

When it is easter Holiday it’s my aunt's Birthday. We went to a easter place were there is easter hunting, giving out easter eggs, And lots more. This girl found 250 easter eggs. I only had 6. When we went back home I gave my aunt’s all my eggs. I through a big easter egg and I got a man in the mouth and he look around trying to find me and when he saw me he gave me a thumbs up.

My cousin had 65 easter eggs and 2 easter bunnies. She let me have 5 and 1 big bunny. We were over my aunt’s house and we celebrated her Birthday and Easter.

We had some more easter hunts and more.

We had dinner we lots of stuff on our plates and for dessert we had ice-cream with syrup and easter eggs. Then we went to go watch movies. My little sister was watching stuart little well I went a sleep.

(Made up) Picnic.

As all the Ogalary schools went for a picnic. We played baseball on the way. “ WHACK” as the ball gose flying in the enchanted forest. So our dragon went searching for it. her name is Patricia. I keep her in school some time’s. She sits by me all the time.

Finally we were there. It was like an hour. But no it was a day to get there. I was hungry so I went to the bin to have a feast. I was so hot because Patrich kept burning me. So I got a club and I whacked her. It was still hot so I went for a swim in the swamp. A Alligator tried to eat me but it never saw my face. “I'm a olger” I said. So it went squireling away.

We played sword fight. We used some branches with spikes on it. It looked funny It kind of look like a club with spikes. We were playing by a beach. We play hard because our skin is rough. My friend got me on the shoulder. It didn’t hurt until a big sea serpent attacked. All my friends clubbed it. I was hurt but the serpent dyed.


I was hurt badly in the ribs because the sea serpent squeezed me. The magic way of healing is going to the enchanted forest. Well i was there I saw my dragon tied up with the ball. Then I heard Mr Grumpy. His name is Mr Grumpy and his nickname is Mr Grundy.
